No First Day Today

So, Ashlyn missed her first day of school. She was up all night with a stomach virus of some kind. She's sleeping peacefully for now, but in the process of all the commotion, Carter woke up and is now wide awake at 3:45 a.m.

Ashlyn's a little disappointed, but I think she felt so bad that she was relieved not to have to go. Hopefully it's just a 24 hour bug and she'll be back to her old self tomorrow.

One question for anyone out there who might know...Why do these things always hit in the middle of the night?

I'll update on how she's doing and how her actual first day goes!

I am so sorry to hear that Ashlyn is at home sick on the first day of school! Nerves maybe caught up with her? I wish I had an answer for your question about the middle of the night syndrome, but I can't think of anything more scientific than that the body relaxes and finds the toxins it can't deal with and spits them out. ALWAYS at night! Hope she soon feels better and that Carter doesn't get it. And, yes, I have been praying for you, too--I well remember those emotions when my "babies" had to leave the nest, even for just a few hours, that first time.
Our thoughts are with you all!
Love, Marla

Well, that reminds me of myself. I always seemed to get sick at the most opportune time! Just ask my mom! I hope it is just a 24 our bug. That's no fun. I hope she has a great first day whenever she is able to go. I have very fond memories of the first day of school. I used to get so excited to meet my teacher and see my classroom. Until I moved to Georgia that is. I don't know if it was Georgia, or just the fact that I was in that difficult middle school age. Anyway, I'm sure you will both do great. And just think, you still have Carter to hang out with all day!:) Have fun with your parents in town. I hope they enjoy farm country!

Me again. I fully expect to get a picture of Ashlyn standing in front of the front door with her bookbag in hand ready to go to her first day of school....for the next 12 years. If you aren't sure about this, just ask Britney! That's something none of us Fransen kids will ever forget!:) or cease to enjoy the memory at least. Thanks Mom!

Poor Ashlyn. I hope she is better by now and will have her first day tomorrow. I would love to see a pic of her first day also. That is something I didn't do with Baylee all three years. I guess it wouldn't have done any good since I never get pics developed anyway:) We miss you guys. Tell the kids that Baylee and Reese say hi.........
